As the sun broke through the clouds, a young lad named Ravit Rathore peered through his window, fixating on the unfolding scene outside. It was a quintessential Sunday morning in Jaipur, yet an air of novelty pervaded his neighborhood. Workers could be spotted relocating goods in the adjacent house. Despite the bustling activity, Ravit remained unfazed, proceeding with his customary routine, preparing himself before joining his parents for the day.
Mr. and Mrs. Rathore, Ravit's parents, brimmed with excitement, a feeling palpable in the air. However, young Ravit found himself unable to discern the cause, leaving him bewildered. Dismissing his puzzlement, he approached his mother, inquiring about the commotion. With a warm smile, she revealed, "Oh, sweetheart, your father's dearest friends are relocating to the house next door." Sharp-minded as he was, Ravit swiftly pieced together the puzzle, realizing that the workers he had observed earlier were assisting in the move. Showing little interest in the proceedings, he ventured to the backyard of their residence, where his grandparents savored their morning tea. Offering them a cheerful greeting, he delved into his morning routine, honing his skills in archery and swordsmanship-a pursuit ingrained in his lineage as a scion of the royal family. Having witnessed his parents' dedication to these arts, Ravit harbored a keen fascination for mastering them himself.
After a while, his parents strolled into the backyard accompanied by a couple-a gentleman and a lady, the latter accompanied by an adorable little girl. As the lady and the gentleman approached his grandparents, Ravit observed from across the yard. His gaze couldn't help but linger on the charming Subhi; her cuteness was undeniable, and he found himself mesmerized by her presence. However, he swiftly pushed aside such thoughts. Upon his father's summons, he approached the group, adhering to the manners instilled by his mother, and sought their blessings. His father proceeded to introduce the couple as Mr. Shekhar Chauhan and Mrs. Revati Chauhan, and the charming little girl as Subhi Chauhan. Ravit couldn't help but notice the captivating allure of Subhi's eyes, yet he brushed aside such thoughts and extended a handshake. Subhi reciprocated the gesture and inquired about his name. He responded curtly, "Ravit Rathore." Though not inherently impolite or ill-mannered, Ravit felt uneasy about his growing attraction towards the girl, solely based on her captivating gaze and now, her innocent voice. Prompted by his parents, he was tasked with entertaining Subhi in his room, assuming temporary responsibility for her.
Following his parents' instruction, he led her to his room under the pretense of engaging in games together. Yet, truth be told, he sought solitude, yearning for a momentary escape from the gathering. Little did he anticipate, the charming girl he had found so endearing just moments ago would soon become a source of annoyance. Subhi, with keen curiosity, observed their surroundings intently as they made their way. Upon reaching his room, he offered her some of his toys to play with. However, Subhi being Subhi, she insisted on his participation in their play.
Subhi inquired, "Are you not going to play with me?"
Ravit responded curtly, "No, I am going to read a book."
"Please play with me," she pleaded.
"I already told you; I'm not going to play with you," he replied, growing increasingly annoyed by her persistence.
"But please," she whined.
"I've told you again, I'm not going to play games with you. Stop pestering me," he snapped, his patience wearing thin.
Subhi fell silent at his stern words, but her doe eyes continued to watch his every move, irritating him further.
"Why are you staring at me?" he demanded.
"I'm just looking at what you're doing," she innocently replied.
With a frustrated sigh, he resumed his activities. However, he soon felt her presence behind him and turned to find her still watching him with curiosity.
"What are you reading?" she asked.
"Nothing that you can understand," he retorted dismissively.
As he tried to move away, she trailed after him, exacerbating his irritation. Despite his efforts to remain calm, her persistent presence grated on his nerves like nothing else had before.
"Why are you following me? Can't you see I'm not interested in talking to you or playing with you?" he finally snapped, unable to contain his frustration any longer.
"But I want to play with you. You are getting irritated, so I thought I'd follow you," she explained innocently.
Unable to tolerate her any longer, he decided to retreat to where their parents were, feeling utterly exasperated by her constant presence.
Together, they returned to their parents, and eventually, Subhi departed with Mr. and Mrs. Chauhan.
Ravit couldn't quite comprehend the mix of emotions swirling within him, finding himself strangely missing her presence already. Yet, he brushed off these feelings, choosing instead to focus on his usual daily routine, determined to ignore the lingering impact of their encounter.
